Hello everyone. I tried to search for this to see if anyone had posted it already, but I didn't have any luck.

Anyway, I'm searching for an original or reproduction 1930s, 40s, or 50s men's suit. Preferably single breasted, three piece, with a thicker lapel (either notch or peak, whichever looks better with that suit). I'm also in the larger sizes, as I'm 6'4" and have broad shoulders (so I usually wear a tailored 48 or 50 long, 38x34 off-the-rack pants).
So I figured I would look for repro stuff.

Any ideas on a modern three-piece suit from Brooks Brothers, or even Men's Warehouse (I know....but for $600 I can buy 2 of them)?

Thanks for your help gentlemen. I'm only here for the summer, but I would like to enjoy the Queen Mary and the Cicada Club properly, rather than look like a slob.

Tomasso, thank you for the warm welcome. I've been lurking for a few years for tips on where to buy hats, then became a member in January, then I guess I forgot to post for 8 months.

I checked out that thread earlier, and although his suits look very nice, I'm on a bit of a time crunch and would like to spend less than $900 on the suit. I realize that's quite a constraint for a nice suit. I have seen a few three-piece suits on sale at the Brooks Brother's website for $499 or $599. Does anyone think these could be "adapted" to look a little more vintage. The lapels seem close, but something is off about the suit.
Also, Brooks Brothers seems not to have them in stock anywhere, so I would have to order them online and come to the store for tailoring. I would much rather try in person than go through that charade.

Again, thanks for the welcome and the link, and any other suggestion would be highly appreciated.

Also, has any been to the Cicada Club? I've never been, but I was clued into its existence just about a week ago, and I'd love to check it out this Sunday. If I don't have period clothing it doesn't seem I'll be tossed out, but from those of you who frequent this establishment what should I wear?
