I recently bought this LL Bean suede vest in an Ebay auction:
It's quite nice, but when it arrived, it didn't fit; it was too small. The label says "L," and I am a 44 (38 waist), but it was not at all big enough for me; it fit more like a medium vest. Here is the original Ebay auction page with precise measurements:

I am thinking this vest would fit a 40 guy well. As you can see from the auction page, I paid a very reasonable $14.00 for the vest, and for that plus $6.00 shipping, it's yours! I just want to break even on the deal and find a good home for a nice garment.
