Dear all
I've had this curious itch to find out if Horsehide is available in a light golden brown colour. Most if not all FQHH used by the main makers use mid to dark browns, eg Russet or chocolate or seal etc. I've seen a few vintage HH jackets over the years, mostly civilian jackets from the 30's and 40's which were made in a golden brown HH, resembling a white coffee colour. My educated guess is that the colour wasn't due to exposure to elements or light or through wear as the ones I saw were fairly unworn, considering their age and considering russet HH can tend to darken with age (maybe I'm wrong here). I've seen mid orange brown to light chocolate colours. That said, the patina on these jackets is beautiful.
For those of you with far more knowledge and experience in HH, does anyone know if there are tanneries making this colour? And is it possible to request such a colour from say Aero or Lost Worlds?
All help, hints and suggestions are very much appreciated.
cheers.
