I guess this doesn't fall under events, per se, so I'm sharing this info here.
As of October 17, 2010 the Liberace Museum here in Las Vegas, is closing its doors.
Darned dratted economy.

That will be a sad day indeed. Went there about 25 years ago when I spent the summer at the Utah Shakespearean Festival. Vegas was only 4 hours away so we made a few treks down that summer. I always claimed that the Liberace Museum was the highlight of my Vegas experience. Tackiness aside that museum actually has some real stuff in it - some important early pianos.

My mother is very upset about this -- he is her all-time-favorite entertainer, and she's always wanted to visit his museum. She saw him at Radio City Music Hall in 1957, on a high school class trip -- her only time in New York -- and she's been in love with him ever since. (And no, she doesn't believe all the gossip. "They just say that about him because he's good to his mother.")

This was one place I really wanted to see - couldn't fit in in when I was in Vegas back in '00.... RIP.
