Leather Conditioners

There are so many on the market, I'm confused about which one to purchase, I've got something called URAD at the minute its by lakeland (UK MARKET) It worked great on leather jacket and on the shows but its quite a pungent smell and leaves a shine so I wouldn't think it suitable for sweatbands.

Has anyone got one that they swear by?

I use 100% Shea butter.

I use URAD/Leather Mate on my boots. For conditioning sweatbands, I use Lexol wipes for ease of use & convenience.

Especially important if you're a very sensitive person... And, as a group, I feel we are a most sensitive bunch.

I can't use detergent with perfume or dye & have no problem with Lexol

I use Bickmore Bick 4 leather conditioner and haven't had any issues.

I got some Leather Saver from Talas Online, and tested it on my beater's dried out sweatband, now it's really just like new. It worked great for my shoes, too, though they were already quite supple. They claim it's non-toxic, hope they're telling the truth.

I'm in the UK, and for pretty much any leather wear I use Lord Sheraton's Leather Balsam (white cream in small jar) - works well on footwear, bags etc. can't see why it won't work on hat bands.

Thanks for this just went and bought 5 jars of the stuff! Traipsed around town for a hour and a half looking before going to tesco and finding it in abundance!

Pure Neats Foot oil as suggested by Horween. Its a 100% animal product so it makes sense to use on animal skin.

I believe it will cause darkening. I have had pretty good luck in that department with Bickmore Bick 4.

Preacher - I have had nothing BUT good results with Lexol wipes.
I've used them for years on saddles & tack plus motorcycle seats, saddlebags, & other leathers.
I have had no issues with my skin in contact with sweatbands conditioned with Lexol wipes & have quite a few vintage hats I keep in wearing order.

Thank you gt. I've wondered about Lexol, seems like its advertised pretty heavy. I've got quite a few items I can use it on. I'll get some of it!

...and when applying leather conditioner, is it only in the shiny part or do you treat the inside too?

I usually only do the outside but it can't hurt to do the inside too. You have to be careful with dried out sweats because they can crack or totally fall apart.

Yeah agreed.... its very effective with a great reputation for antique leather
