“I hate that song,” he often joked to the crowd. He said he saved it for the end because “people my age can’t remember if we did it or not.”
It was a much happier time, no trip to Hawaii was complete with seeing Mr. Ho.
He was Mr. Entertainer, another era sadly ends, he will be missed R.I.P.
Don Ho was a genuine nice guy!! and a fine humanitarian! May he rest in peace.
Tiny Bubbles was a classic, and to those of you who have a problem with this.....too bad!!! Sad to see all the greats passing on. At least they will now get a chance to hear that song in heaven.
Awwww.
I met him once in Hawaii. 3 months after 9/11. He was so nice to us for travelling when others wouldnt. Told us a bit his own recollection of PearlHarbor. He was so gracious & charming & funny w/ all the lecherous jokes.
RIP
Don Ho was one of my family's favorite entertainers. Most recently, we caught his show in July after his surgery in Thailand, and although appearing frail -- he was always the Entertainer first!
Probably not the best time to bring this up, but...........around twenty years ago, Mr.Ho hit on my sixteen year old niece. He must have had a bit of Chaplin in him.[huh]
My wife and I went to Hawaii for our honeymoon in 1998, and while we didn't see Don Ho perform, that cute Tiny Bubbles song has great memories for us. There was so much to see and do, we often say that we want to go back to Hawaii, now we've missed our chance to see the Don Ho show.
When I was stationed in Honolulu from 1967 to 69, I lived in a little pad up the street from the International Marketplace. I don't remember the name of the club, but you could walk past it every evening and hear Don Ho doing his act every night. There were several songs that he did in his act that were real trade marks, as well as the infamous Tiny Bubbles. One Paddle Two Paddle comes to mind. Very very very very very pleasant memories. Aloha, Don Ho!
