Lady's Hats?

I hope the more informed members of the lounge could help me with this.

I want to buy a lady's hat (not a fedora), but I am totally ignorant in terms of what companies make a good, durable lady's hat or what to watch out for (e.g. shrinkage, etc.). There are some hats I see on the Lock and Co. website, but I was wondering if there are alternatives.

Any advice you can give to this "newbie" would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

For something 'cheap' that you can wear near everyday and not have to worry about, go to Burlington Coat Factory and just see what you like there. For something a bit 'more', I really like Betmar.

I have some English Bermona and a couple of Betmar

Hats that are good wool but are not fur. The hat in my Avatar is a Bermona that I bought in London. I have a couple of Betmars (as noted, Burlington Coat Factory has these).

I happen to like men's Fedora's and have started a collection. Fur felt is definitely better quality. I've also just ordered a ladies Akubra Ascot. Akubra has a few ladies hats - Ascot, Epsom, Cornwell.

Since you live in Boston, Toppers might be a place to check out locally:

I'd love to know what they really have available myself!

Welcome!

Does it matter?
Depending on what style and budget you're looking for you have several choices for ladies hats including Kangol, Scala, Betmar, Tilley, Helen Kaminski, Lillie & Cohoe, and EK by New Era to name just a few.
