It is taken from Empire Of The Sun, a WWII flick about a young British boy who is inturned by the Japanese in China. In the camp is downed US flyer John Malkovich, the POW packrat and hustler, who wears a tan canvas long-billed cap that actually laces like a shoe in the back for sizing adjustment.
Any Loungers know anything about this original one-size-fits-all appproach?
I seem to recall a slightly different cap from the Old West which also featured this lace up technique.

BT, I agree with you. I wondered what it was when I saw the film, too. I suspect it's some costume director's idea of a vintage cap.
