Well, back from a brilliant, if weird, trip from NYC. Lots to see and do, but I was particularly struck by this small Brooklyn company working out of an old hat maker's factory on Flushing Avenue: https://knickerbockermfg.co/
I'm amazed I've not heard of them before now - from the coverage they've been getting in the likes of Clutch magazine they seem to be getting a bit of traction in Japan - but by chance we were staying with a guy who worked in the factory alongside them, so I was able to pay them a visit.
It's just three young guys who are clearly committed to producing quality, handmade clothing inspired by the 30s-50s era, using machinery from that period. I bought a fantastic eight-panel hat in herringbone wool, which is the first time I've found a cap that actually suits/fits me.
All but the athletic wear is made on site by the three guys who set the company up in 2013.
Interestingly, they appear to be offering installment payment scheme on their stuff. Worth a look!

The website is interesting. NYC is a fascinating city which I visited on just one occasion while attending a medical meeting for one week a few years back. I felt I just barely scratched the surface, very much the same as when I was in London for a week last year. What else did you do there apart from dodging protesters in Manhattan? :D

So, so much, Richard. Highlights included a day out at Coney Island - Nathan's hot dogs an' all- went to the MoMA, the Guggenheim, a ride of the Staten Island ferry, went to see Wednesday night's Colbert show, Brooklyn Botanics, caught a film, wandered through Central Park, visited the Dakota building, but there was loads of stuff in between. Will certainly be going back as I certainly only scratched the surface. Loved Brooklyn, particularly liked Williamsburg and Greene Point. Bushwick was... interesting...
