I own and have owned many pairs of Bills. And they are accurate! If you want the kind of Khakis that you can put on AFTER your shoes already on your feet, then these are for you. A full length Zipper too, like it should be! And they wear well, rugged and comfortable. I highly recommend them!

I can whole heartedly recommend the new Bill's Khaki Limited Edition Offering of the Bullard Field Pant. I just got a pair of M1s plain and pleated front and they are SWEET. Perfect traditional fit and if you wear full cut boxer shorts, you'll appreciate the fit. The weight of the fabric is identical to the Bills Heavyweight Signature British Khaki that was offered last fall.

I admit the Bill's M1 fit is what works for me. Totally goes with my traditional style from my classic flat top haircut all the way down to a pair of distressed leather oxfords.

You might see if you can find a local shop carrying them. I was surprised to find one in my backyard here in the cornfields of Ohio. It's a big advantage to be able to try them on.

The shop here also offers free alterations for life on anything you buy there - that sort of thing, if offered, will come in handy, yes?

I've been looking into getting some washed M1 plain front Bill's Khakis, although they are not cheap at $135.

I was wondering if there are any other decent khakis out there besides Bill's that have a period flair to them. I'm trying to avoid the low rise pant epidemic.

I can't imagine ever spending $135 on what is essentially a pair of chinos (prepares for flame war).

LandsEnd offers several lines of khakis in a range of materials (from poly to gabardine) in a rainbow of colours in long rise. Most of the time the prices don't reach anything higher than $80 or $90 a pair (for the wool stuff). They're lined, come with free hemming, and their customer support is fantastic.

I think that the ones from Bill's are styled to be more vintage like than most modern manufacturers. I usually get from Cabela's and the L.L.Bean ones seem good in the modern style but as to vintage styling Bill's just seems to be in a class of their own.

Check out Sierra Trading Post; I just got mine from there and expect them in tomorrow. They have the M1 Original Fit Plain Fronts for $54 (if you're a 30 or 31). They have other variants in a wider selection of sizes, too.

The "Harvard" model by Haspel is a really decent and well-wearing khaki. It's essentially a well done knock-off of Bill's for less money.

Dockers has an inexpensive line of full-cut 1940's "inspired" khakis. I have 4 pair, and I wear them to work every day. Low maintenance, well built, etc.

Just keep your eyes peeled on Ebay. I've bought quite a few pairs in my size in good to mint condition. Those I don't wear I just keep buying and sticking up in my attic for future use.

I can recommend the Buzz Rickson ones too. More of a Steve McQueen fit i.e. slightly more tailored lower legs but a great (though not inexpensive) pair for smart or casual wear.

We've had a lot of previous discussion on this same topic, but it's always good to revive old threads with updates on what is currently available. I too hate the low-rise epidemic that is plaguing the world. I'll also put in my vote for Lands End khakis. As for the Bill's Khakis, I agree that checking either Sierra Trading Post or Ebay will often yield some good finds.

Actually, yes, I'm a 30. They only come in "wheat." Is this British Khaki?
