I recently came up with a method of storing my hats in side of my clothing closet,and it involves simply hanging the hats with clothes pins that have a hook on one end to hang from a closet
rod. I can hang 6 hats easily in the space of about 30" and they stay orderly and relatively dust
free. The package of plastic laundry hooks I bought at a local hardware store cost 5.00 for 10
pack and they apply just enough pressure to hang the hat without putting a dimple into the felt or straw.
