I got turned onto Kalimotxo a couple years back. Kalimotxo is a drink that is (I hear) pretty popular in Spain.
The recipe is simple. 1 part Coca Cola, 1 part Red Wine. In my experience cheap, not especially sweet but very tanniny wine is the way to go to counteract the inherent sweetness of Coca Cola. Bottom shelf sauvignon is great for this. Mix it up well and enjoy.
As for glasses, it's a tricky balance. Do you find the bouquet from the red wine more significant (wider glass) or the carbonation (narrower glass)? I have no compelling preference, so I find cognac classes the most comfortable to drink from.
