LOL, i got two vintage fedoras off ebay last night as well. I ran across that one as well. I was just about to start bidding on it until I saw the name of the high bidder. You being a fellow gearhead/vintage cloths lovers I decided to not try to outbid someone I knew, you got another great fedora to add to your ever expanding collection, I hope to see it come QM time.:cool2:

I've heard of some of those. And Josh, I bet those hats you won were on my watch list :p Nice Lid, Joseph, I need to take the time to look through the auctions that are gonna be full of mislisted or otherwise not what I'm looking for items, such as searching for "felt hat". And isn't it stupid how many trucker caps you come up with when you search for Vintage hat?

WOW this place is great, Matt, They have some fine lids, I just wish they had more in my size right now. There is in their fedora section I would die for, creme colored with a brown ribbon, with a matching ribbon bound brim, that may be the model for my first Optimo!:cool2:

you need to rock eBay more often, then! there have been two or three hats this last week that are dead ringers for this one (I won two of them). They weren't all that expensive. I know you got yourself a nice hat earlier - I was looking at that one also - nice hat! but in reference to your 'dream hat' above, check this one out:

I am a lucky, lucky man. dig the reverse taper!

I'll let you know when it arrives - if it fails to please me, you may do with it as you wish - or anyway, yeah, maybe we can make a deal. I actually just got a Stetson Whippet that looks exactly like it (though I changed the bash some - the crown was completely caved in when I received it) in terms of color, crown, and brim. It's a 7-1/8, though, which I've never tried to wear. It's not too terribly big...I don't think...

I just got a whole ton of hats in the mail via eBay today...and I have to say, of my considerable number of eBay experiences, today was the first day I started to feel like a got a little scammed. Two hats which were listed as "close to mint" had some serious discoloration - on the brim and crown. I can hadle a messed-up liner, but the crown...

Another had some serious holes in it! I mean serious holes. and all of the colors were pretty heavily different from what they had appeared.

ah well. I didn't spend that much money, at least...and I'm getting a lot of cleaning/bashing experience. I hope to have some photos ready in the next day or so - I'm going through them all, color-correcting them all so they're accurate in color (because I like to practice what I preach).

That happens, you just have to watch out and go with your instincts. The biggest problem I see on ebay, is that people take some terrible pictures. They never consider light what so ever and often their pictures are so dark you can't see any of the details and just have to go with it. Vintage hat collecting, I have found, is like a crap game, ya win some ya loose some, in the hunt for you vintage dream fedora. When ya get a looser so set it aside and keep on looking and do the best ya can with it.:cool2:
