I wanted that hat so bad.
I missed bidding on it- but that's the way things go.
congratulations. I'm glad it went to someone who'll appreciate it.
and it just looks so cool.

You got it. Do you know anything about this company? I have never heard of it untill resently. It has a nice Open Road look about it.

I am pretty sure it will look just like this:

Good score there. A Portis western style. You seldomly see those still being sold. :)

no- I'm afraid I can't help you.

I just know I like the open road styling with that color on it.
I can't tell from the ebay pics if it's just dark brown or if it has a hint of green in it. It's probably just brown, but I wonder why I don't see more open roads in dark colors. While I do like the grey, this just does it for me more.

Yeah, I was watchin' that one too...

... it was by far the nicest that seller had listed. Has a very nice ORish quality to it, what w/ the band & brim width... very nice indeed. And I love the (from here) coffee color ... very, very elegant...I am glad it wasn't a little bigger!

It is nice to finally get a hat in my natural size. From the photos posted this did seem to be the nicest out of the bunch. The color is what clinched it for me.

Yes they have but I have been fortunate in that even though they are a smaller size they are fitting very well. I'm now waiting on my 7-3/8 Borsalino. I'm hoping my luck hasn't run out.

Douglas, that Portis is a great looking hat. I had a big desire to own it. Just couldn't compete with you. My $ limit was a bit stingy, still I think the end price was a bargain. Enjoy. Can't wait to see some pictures after it arrives.:eusa_clap

Speaking of the other hats up for auction by the same seller. Do you know anything about the Barcelona Brand hats he had available? They looked pretty nice to me. Anybody out there have any knowledge of that particular brand????

Good thing I've been avoiding eBay lately, Douglas, or I may have bid more for that hat than is my habit. You probably would have won it anyway, but at a higher price. I'd have wanted it to add to my collection of OR and OR-like hats, which now numbers 17 (I think) examples. Doubt I'll ever find another example of that Portis model, though. Sniff.
Congrats. Please let us know what you think of its quality once it arrives.

That twenty hat was really nice. as Douglas mentioned, the ribbon treatment was very neat.

JP, please comment on this hat brand...

BTW, who won the Doobs Forty hat a few days ago? That was also one nice OR-styled lid.

Congrats Douglas!
