I'm reading "Julie & Julia" right now and I absolutely love it-- Julie is even a vintage-lover and mentions wearing vintage suits to work.

She's really funny-- I hope the film conveys her subtle humor.

Wow...Well, it is a pretty scathing and shallow review. I can see why people would be angry about it. But I can also see how classicists would be feisty over the concept in general....However, I still plan on watching the movie when I settle into the right chick flick mood....or maybe just the book.

So I finally saw this yesterday, and wow, I loved it! Even if you don't care about the cuisine (like me), the characters are wonderful. I have to agree with the majority of critics in that I enjoyed the Julia parts much more than Julie, but just the same it's one of my new favorite films. A most amusing part for me was Julia and her sister humorously remarking on their Pasadena background...this, in a theatre on Colorado Boulevard, full of Pasadeneans laughing along with it! For old car lovers, Julia and her husband arrive in Paris with their '50 Buick Roadmaster Estate wagon, what a beaut. Oh, and the scenes of Paris...so blissful, whereas the New York scenes are even more depressing by comparison...c'est la vie! If you haven't seen it yet, get to the theatres before it's gone!:eusa_clap

It's so true -- I fully admit to staring at clothing for a good portion of that film. I really enjoyed it.

I went expecting a mindless, mildly enjoyable film that I could watch while snugglin' up to my fella. It did not disappoint.

I really loved this movie, especially seeing the recreation of Paris in the '50s, the French music, etc. One of my favorite of the year.
