So here is the other Jacket Johnson Leathers made for me Just got it 2 weeks ago. It is a 1920s Hercules copy. My absolute favorite of this jacket is the Rainbow Country of Japan version of it, but they don't make bigger sizes than 44. This one is between a 46-48. I got Johnson Leathers pictures of the Rainbow Country version, made some of my modifications I wanted, and they made a great jacket. It's not an exact copy, but what I wanted in the end. It is around 2.75 to 3oz horsehide that they provided. The liner is a cotton/satin blend. A lot more comfortable than straight nylon. The liner is a bit darker purple than the photos. The iPhone white balance is terrible so the jacket is a bit darker than the photos as well. The stitching is the contrasting brown thread.

Very nice, I agree with HD, the contrast stitching isnt too bold or "in your face". Its more like "compliment stitching" ;)

looks like you've had another result there Carl, well done. The Johnson leathers stock continues to rise. If I was American for sure I'd be buying here. For what you get and from what I've read about their pricing it seems this place is excellent value, and Alan a grand master. Good luck to him

Yea, they put the flap in for me. As far as the company I guess they have have been around since 1979. They do a lot of police motorcycle jackets it looks look. They know their stuff. I would say they don't have a large amount of leather "types" to choose from, but I think it just changes time to time. He just happen to have this leather in stock. Alan is the guy to talk to. I think he has a couple Japanese guys that do the sewing. I will try to get some wearing pics up.

Most of the shop's jackets are non-website. When I was there they had all kinds of G-1s and A-2s, a few half belts, d-pockets, etc. you're in for a treat. Last time I was there they had a grizzly that was about to be shipped off to Japan.

Maybe you can snap a few pictures there for us?

Thanks for the update .... sounds tempting ;)
I'll mention the FL and see if they'll let me get snapping.
By the time I've gone there and returned , it'll be about a month , so patience everyone.
If I get a decent set of pics I'll probably start off a new post if that's okay ?

Great looking jacket!
Just a pet peeve of mine, with jackets like this and the aero '20s half-belt, but you really didn't see zippers show up on utility jackets like this until 1930.

Most definitely. It will help out a lot of guys that are interested but can't get to the store. They do have a short video on their website too if anyone's missed it:

Absolutely gorgeous jacket, lots of attention to details/finish and I love the liner! The entire product just oozes quality imho. If you say the rainbow country version is even better then I'd like to see that. Going to spend a couple of days in Tokyo next spring and I guess I'd better purchase some extra luggage allowance.

+1 for some pics of you wearing it.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but Carl1000, any chance of putting up some pics of the jacket being worn? I'm thinking about getting a Sears Hercules repro and would love to see yours on.
