Update on the Masaye Leather (olive tanned HH from Germany)
The sheen is starting to wear off on some areas and it's not as water repellent anymore. The creasing and folds are getting more pronounced and it's molding more to my physique after getting wet

Looks amazing!!

Thanks JustiN! The water did wonders on it. Also just FYI all JL orders will be delayed so unfortunately we won't get our jackets soon

That looks spectacular man!

Thank you! I try to wear it as much as I can so it's developing quite quickly. Love your new acquisition btw

isn't this a Blattwerk leather SB uses?

That was my first thought as well, it might be the same or tanned/processed similarly.

Man that did not take long at all, looks great!

Yeah my jackets have been delayed as well, although mine was due to the button machine being down. Thats a bummer, oh well is what it is.

Yes it's coming along nicely. Thanks

Yep, they should reopen in 2 weeks so it's not too long now.

Better be safe than sorry, a couple of months more is just delayed gratification in any case :)

Yes, it's not too long of a wait considering the current times.

Thanks for the update. Your jacket looks fantastic. When reading German tannery and olive tanned Blattwerk also came into my mind. I'm glad to read that you like it!

No problem and thank you as well. Is Blattwerk the name of the tannery? I really do like it especially the grainy parts of the hide. It's really good to wear, it's light and comfortable.

@Jin431 I actually think it is following tannery (https://www.heller-leder.com/blattwerk-133) and as far as I remember they also equip Porsche car leather seats with their leather (most likely a different leather than this Blattwerk), so the quality of hides of this tannery are supposed to be very high. Or can you imagine a Porsche with flimsy leather seat? ;)

After the talk of the deerskin trousers and german makerss, I am really curious about that. You can expect a german hides trend from me after the lockdown, starting with the daytona trousers if I reach my weight target :D

Wherever part of Germany this leather came from its really well made. I hope to see a brown version of this full aniline leather. The added topcoat is mostly gone on the right sleeve and it makes the grain pop out.

Got it, that looks a sustainable and environmentally aware process they are using. Kudos to them, must smell nice at that tannery. That's interesting to know about leather seats, I wonder if there are car guys who prefer HH leather seats than cowhide lol

Thank you sir! It's developing quite nicely indeed, this is my template for all future jackets. If I ever get stranded out at sea, I won't go hungry for a few days!

I should have used this hide for my German flyer Jacket for my next JL project too bad but now I'll have to go for Horween Vermont Dark Seal instead
