Joan Collins says British women have given up trying to look good.

Rude Once Too Often
"A few years ago the Husband of a lady i knew was in London on a book buying juncket, he came across Joan being escorted around Harrods By Mohamed al Fyed, "Oh asked my friend, what does she look like" he replied "real, realy, realy Old"

"She was on a recent episode of Miss Marple, and at 75 years, it shows cosmetic surgery can only take 10-15 years off"

The Ageless Face Joan Collins*.

Joan Collins is, of course, the perfect face.

To many of us Joan Collins is all that is possible and positive about aging. Yes, she was born beautiful, but more significantly through the course of a long, very active and public life, she has with seeming effortlessness maintained an enviable image of beauty and glamor.

Can somebody please explain to me why people not dressing smartly is so fundamentally 'bad'? Are we attaching some kind of moral value to the act of putting on a suit or dress? One could argue that those of us who lavish time, money and attention on our appearances to quite the degree that most of us here do are frivolously wasting time that could be better spent in contributing to our society, working for charities and improving the lot of others less fortunate than ourselves. And Gandhi was a right scruffy bugger.

Blame it on Hadley. She tends to attract the boys.

moved to the drama section?;)

I will say as one gets older it helps to put on a little paint and dress a bit better. Do you want a Christmas package in a paper sack or with a pretty bow and paper on it.
I tend to now wear what I want, when I want and how I want.

Youth is wasted on the young.

Im sorry, was quoting this suppose to make a statement?

I really dont care what you think of the move, at all. The PR has a history of moving mixed company threads out of the PR when a lot of the traffic exceeds the ladies posting. So it was moved.

And before you start cutting and pasting some link you found on the Google to counter whatever confrontational thing you believe I may have said, as you seem to do often, just take a breath and continue posting in a thread youve posted in 5 times already, K?

I don't think her age is a factor. I think she is a perfect example of when "making an effort" doesn't make a person look better.

.........The fact that her effort was misdirected means she should be faulted for making it?......Joanie is one of those women who for most of her life has been very beautiful and is now trying to stave off the inevitable......you should be praised and admired for doing that not ridiculed and it certainly shouldn't be used against her when she's making a perfectly valid point based on my own observations......one of our friends is a 91 year old lady who is conducting the same fight and she looks great....more power to these girls

........Actually Ghandi wasn't a scruffy bugger.......in his famous period he wore simple native dress but it was always clean and had a dignity about it......and if you see any earlier pics of him in South Africa when he used to dress European style he was a bit of fashion plate......and in any case the simple persona was something of a myth......as Nehru famously said "lt costs a fortune to keep him in poverty."
