I use buyee also. Their fees are reasonable, but where they get you is on the international shipping fees. They overcharge you there by about double the actual shipping cost. Still, they are easy to use, so if it's a must-have item.....

I had very bad experience with Buyee.
1. They ask for your Paypal password.
2. They do not except returns under any cicumstances.
3. They do not accept responsibility for faulty or not as described items. So sorry we are not experts....
As others have said use Juno at Bidservice

Used to use Buyee but switched to Fromjapan because of lower fee and shipping, not because of the no return policy. Thing is unlike ebay, most sellers on Yahoo Auction Japan don't accept return and I can understand why they won't use their own accounts to leave any negative feedback or raise any dispute. BTW 返品不可 means no return. That policy however should not apply to proxy on shopping sites like Rakuten.

Buyee would not accept it or any responsibility whatsoever. I had to get Paypal to get my money back, then they threatened legal action.

You can't blame a company for applying the law...

IMO this is something that comes with buying in Japan, whatever the item on yahoo auction it will always say "So sorry we are not experts...."

Even when buying new you can be faced with that problem, i bought a jacket from "the rising" which is a reputable store in japan, after discussing it with them they recommended a size 42, it was too small for me, i asked to exchange it and they just ignored all emails on the subject.
Their T&Cs state no exchange under any circumstences.

IMO if you buy in Japan it is always a gamble, you are either ok with it or not.
I have bought 7 instruments and around 20 other smaller items on Buyee and everything arrived on time and well packaged, that is all i expect from them.

I really fail to see why the proxy should accept responsibility when such is specifically excluded in the service agreement. Surely they would not want to launch a dispute for you because they are using their own accounts and not yours. How can they guarantee a refund when there is no guarantee that you will win the dispute? Picking up the tab themselves is also out of the question. Proxy are more shipping agent than personal shopper. So long as the product was not damaged by the shipping agent during the shipment, why should the shipping agent take responsibility given that the insurance carried by shipping agent and/or post office only covers lost or damage during transit. To have the service you want, you would be looking at a personal shopper who would charge way more than a proxy would.
Reason why I don't use Buyee because they charge a percentage of the bidding price as service fee and yet their service expressly excludes handling dispute for buyers. As said, it is expressly excluded, so you have the right to not use their service. I use Fromjapan because they only charge a nominal fee of 300 yen and I think that is fair for the extent of their service.
By the way, no return means no return, it doesn't matter if the picture does not show a damage and that the damage is not mentioned because it does not say no return unless there are damages not described. That is the risk. Even the s14 of UK Sales of Goods Act says in cases of private sellers there is no implied warranty as to quality and/or fitness for purpose. Warranty to that effect must be expressly stated in the agreement unless the sellers sell in the course of business. Even if you can win on the faulty good argument, you are not the named party of the sale which means you don't have the right to sue the seller and you can only claim against Buyee under the service agreement that specifically exclude you from claiming against Buyee. My point is you can choose not to use Buyee but you can't place the responsibility on Buyee.
Again, I think the costs of the kind of service you expect would be way more than that is being charged now because the proxy has to have special insurance coverage underwritten to cover your type of dispute.

I am not talking about fitness for purpose. I am talking about deliberate mis selling.
What if you buy a jacket and a sack of potatoes is delivered?
I use a proxy agent and have successfully returned damaged items where the seller has wilfully concealed damage.
What you say about proxies is true they are a third party. The thing to do is to use a proxy who does that little bit more.
