Just read an article on Jack La Lanne. He is so cool. Kind of golden era. He began his career in the thirties, and opened gyms in the thirties and forties. Developed many new technologies in gym equipment, and was a proponent of simple, mostly vegeterian, non processed food diet.

Began a television show with his own money paying for air time and became a household name getting housewives and others up and moving and thinking about their bodies.

Still kicking at 93. Still tows boats while handcuffed and shackled swimming from Alcatraz. Holds records for push ups in 24 minutes or so and pull ups in an hour and a half or so. Over a thousand each.

And in a time before steroids or the knowledge we have now, was an incredibly buff lean guy. Pretty handsome too I would say.

It is so funny how what he said 60 years ago applies today. My favorite thing is: "Exercise is king; nutrition is queen. Put them together and you have a kingdom." At 93, he still works out 2 hours a day!!!!

LaLanne has lead the fight against our kids eating so much such sugar and other crap. Of course, like most things, we don't listen to him because he doesn't bring a quick fix to any problems.

Also, I love that his wife is named Elaine. Elaine LaLanne? Priceless!!!!!

In the '60s..Jack Lalane was a daily TV staple here in Indiana. Although a little corny(only because he took excercising so seriously)...he and his German Shepard "Happy" made the air waves every day. I remember him saying...that..."If the food is man made...don't eat it...and if it tastes good..spit it out!". I think that his show was the first excercise program on TV. A few years later...Debbie Drake followed as the first woman fitness Guru. The good looking blond,Drake, eventually married the gravely voiced wrestling legend"Dick The Bruiser",which caused quite a stir at the time.

Two years ago, he was honored with the Lifetime Acheivement Award at the Arnold Classic in Columbus, OH (it is a bodybuilding/fitness expo and competition started by Schwarzenegger). The crowd went wild for Jack!

My Mom was a housewife, and watched his show every day, excercising with fun (heck I even joined Mom a few times), Jack Lalane is a great guy, no drugs to loose weight, or gain build body mass, simple, it was fun,
Long Live Jack!
