Barbisio part II

Barbisio really lets loose in the 1930's with some stellar designs I would love to find.

Barbisio part XII

Final one for Barbisio. We see the designs we associate Barbisio with appear, like the rabbit (apparently called Papa Garenne) and the little dog.

Just the name "Elite".

Cappellificio Cervo

First this little tidbit of information about one of the few reamining hatfactories in Italy. From 2018:

Zegna takes over the historic Cappellificio Cervo
By Caterina Zanzi 23 January 2018

Cappellificio Cervo enters the orbit of the Zegna group, which took it over from liquidation. The Biella company was acquired by Zeca, controlled by the Ermenegildo Zegna group, with the participation of the entrepreneur Vincenzo Caldesi. The operation follows the liquidation of the company by the Court of Biella. The terms of the deal also include the entry into the shareholding structure of Artigiana Cappellai, controlled by the Borrione family, which will also act as a working partner, contributing the manufacturing branch of the company and the artisanal know-how.

In detail, the acquisition, the financial terms of which were not disclosed, concerns the property in Sagliano Micca (Biella), the machinery and the Cervo, Barbisio and Bantam brands. An official note states that the renovation and safety work on the building which dates back to the end of the 19th century will begin shortly. In parallel, the operational methods for resuming production activity will be defined.

The Cappellificio Cervo, which takes its name from the nearby stream that crosses the Biella area, was founded as a cooperative in 1897 by local master craftsmen, who started the path that led it to become one of the most prestigious brands in the sector. The company also has original machinery from the 19th century, which allows it to keep some peculiar manufacturing procedures unchanged.

“The partnership acquisition of the Cappellificio Cervo – comments Ermenegildo Zegna, CEO of the group of the same name -, in addition to responding to a renewed attention in fashion for hats, is also dictated by the desire to contribute to keeping alive a manufacturing ability typical of our territory. I am sure that also thanks to the skills of our partners we will be able to restore prestige to a historic brand which in its one hundred and twenty years of life has contributed positively to the image of 'knowing how to do well' enjoyed by the Biella area"
