they siad he'd hold out a bit longer. Just woulda liked to say goodbye. I don't do the funeral thing cuz it wont bring him back to life but...family ya know

CharlesB, I do not know you very well but from your posts you seem like a well adjusted fellow & one with a sense of humor. Just yesterday my doctor gave me some sage advice about regret: just let it go; not the memories just the regret. And for the humor (?) maybe you will be in line for some cool vintage stuff to remember him by. I am acquiring vintage so I can leave them to my grandson. There are no more valuable material things than keepsakes.

We'll be thinking of you as you make that long journey.

You have my condolences, sir! I dealt with a somewhat similar issue last year when my grandmother passed away in California. It came as quite a shock, as no one had communicated to me that she had any sort of health issues before that... Not quite the same thing, but certainly a shared feeling. It really pained me, and still does, that I was unable to at least say my goodbyes.
