Is a Trilby a fedora?

My grandfather wore hats, but being British, he called them Trilbys. He wore the super wide brimmed type with his zoot suit around war time, and later, wore a short brimmed one in the 1950's and 60's.

They look like fedoras to me. Is there a difference?

Thanks, Marc. There doesn't appear to be a definative answer there, so I'm just going to think of them as the same thing.
