Ironweed

Thought I'd post that Ironweed has been released on DVD recently.

Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep and a very young Tom Waits in a period 1938 drama.

Great film. The story, casting, direction are all top notch.
Are there any extras on it?

No extras, and the film quality is pretty bad. It appears to be a direct VHS to DVD transfer with all the degraded quality inherent in the original tape.

That is too bad. At the very least the picture quality deserves some attention.

I agree, otherwise what is the point? Extras are nice, but the main thing is having a decent copy of the movie. It's also only available in full screen presentation with no option for widescreen.

I bought it, but I would recommend renting it on Netflix if you have a subscription.

As good as Nicholson is (or was) at playing screaming nutz, I think he is equally good in less frenetic roles.
Ironweed and About Schmidt are two such roles.
I just rembered... The Pledge is amazing too.

Looks very good to me and mine's a 2009 copy.

the book was so very good i was afraid the movie would not do it justice, but with that cast and the soundtrack, it worked better than i could of hoped for:eusa_clap
