info needed knox milan straw and stetson golden ivy league?

I just picked up a pair of stingy brims. First one is a grey felt stetson royal deluxe on the sweat band the inside of the crown says it is the golden ivy league by stetson. there is a union label on the inside of the sweat band and the original price tag has been torn. Size is 7 3/8 with a wide black ribbon with a leaf type pin.
the second hat is a knox black milan straw porkpie with black and silver ribbon size 7 1/4 it came with the original hat box.
any information will be greatly appreciated.

Both look like quality hats...

I'm not much of a stingy brim fan, but both look like very good acquisitions. The Knox is very nice. I really like that type straw and this is an outstanding example of a Milan straw in an unusual color scheme. If you decide to off it, let me know.

are you sure that the ivy league has a cav. edge? It looks like an overwelt to me.

Pardon my ignorance, what is an overwelt?

Also what are the specifics of a milan straw versus a standard straw?

an overwelt is where the brim is folded over on the top and stitched. Cavanagh edge is similar, but it is felted back in, so there is no stitching, and no "step".

Milan straw is the kind where it is braided and stitched into the hat.

it isnt stitched so I guess it is a cavanaugh edge. I also have a kitten finish resistol with the same edge.

I just found the original receipt.

I was sifting through some of the other things in hat box and found the original receipt for one of the hats, I would guess it is for the Knox. It was purchased on 20 April 1960 for $11.95 plus .48 tax from Bill's Quality Men's Wear in Huntsville, Alabama. Even has the name and address of the purchaser.
