I think I have enough hats!

I'm contemplating the fact that there's a limit on how much room I'm willing to give up to hats.

Here's the list:

Open Roads = 4 (tan, grey, grey mist, and a silver belly work hat)
Stratoliners = 2 (tan, charcoal grey)
Borsalino = 1 (midnight blue)
Whippets = 2 (dark brown, light grey)
Other Stetson = 1 (dark green fedora, 2" brim))
Glen Allan = 1 (lovely medium grey fedora)
Stephen L. Stetson = 1 (black, similar to Whippet but felt not as nice)
Bailey Major = 1 (dark grey fedora)
Western = 2 (One black, one taupe inherited from Dad, bought at Olsen Brothers - now out of biz - in Spokane WA)
Straw = 3 (1 inexpensive Panama, one coconut fiber, one tan and black)

And I have 3 or 4 hats I need to sell - a couple of blacks, a grey and a Dark Tan Cavanagh, all with 2" or slightly smaller brims.

The 18 keepers have filled the upper part of our hall closet and one wall in a guest bedroom. Although there are a couple I wouldn't mind upgrading (like the Stephen L. Stetson, as I'd like a different black) I think I have all I need. I have a decent hat in a color to go with anything I wear. Not sure I need anything else! :p

Should you decide to part with the Stephen L., well, I might well be interested. Some of my hats remain in the stable because they are among the few remaining examples of their kind and somebody has to tend to their care and feeding.
Any Stephen L. Stetson qualifies by the rarity criterion, and one that resembles a Whippet (a good-lookin' hat if ever there was one) would even get worn from time to time, which makes it all the better.
That's a nice array you have there, Pilgrim. Not all that extensive, but nice lids all, by the sounds of it. Sure beats having a large collection of less worthy stuff, eh?

I kept telling myself I had enough hats, too, a couple of years ago. Since that time, I have added a Fedora fedora, an Art Fawcett fedora, a couple of Akubras, and a Seletino or two, not to mention a half-dozen newsboy caps.

I put some older ones in storage, gave away a number of hats, etc., etc.

But, if I ever spot a vintage Borsalino in a second-hand store -- guess what?!
