I need help reshaping a hat

Hello there gang. I just received a new fedora I purchased on Ebay?¢‚Ǩ¬¶I think I did well. ($12.85, including shipping) It is a Lee and looks fairly old on the inside. I took a bit of a chance on it as there was no definite size listed on it. It?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s a little loose but fits. So one thing that would be nice is if I could take the hat down a size. I do have a hat stretcher to take it up and could use that as a block. I guess at some point I should have my head carved for a custom block?¢‚Ǩ¬¶lol. The crown is short and the brim narrow.

My plan is to roll the brim so that it is up evenly all the way around and forming the crown in a ?¢‚Ǩ?ìPork pie?¢‚Ǩ? style (it is nearly there already). The end result will (I hope) be a ?¢‚Ǩ?ìjazz musicians?¢‚Ǩ? style hat. The felt is very thick and soft?¢‚Ǩ¬¶buttery would be a good word. I will include more pictures as the project progresses. I would like to try to do it myself rather than sending it out, unless that is absolutely necessary.

So?¢‚Ǩ¬¶any help? Thanks a bunch everyone.

Although your specific crown my not be listed, if you try a search in hats for rebash or rebashing you should find some tips.

Usually they clean the hat first, and it seems they use steam and a bottle of some type to take out the old creases to start fresh.
