This Ebay find turned out to be a very nice, soft, interesting dark grey fedora.

Inside the seatband it says "Made in Canada" and "Glen Allen Luxury Felts". The sweatband is somwehat textured with fine lines running around it. No liner, but the inside of the crown is stamped with the same crest as the sweatband, and "Glen Allan luxury felts".

The photo of me was taken by bouncing off a mirror, and it has artifacts in the photo. The ribbon shows a lot of dust in the third photo, but it brushed off nicely.

This is definitely a keeper. The felt is every bit as nice as either of my Whippets.:D

So no one has ever heard of Glen Allan hats? Web searching turned up no mentions at all. It appears to me that they made darn nice hats.

Thanks much, friends. It is a very soft and flexible felt, somewhat like the Stetson Playboy I have. Hard to tell whether it's intended as s summer hat - it's not perceptibly lighter weight than others I have.

Looks good! I prefer my hats without liners, which is gauche to some! You did very well!

I know what you mean. There's something nice about
a hat designed to have no liner, and not just that it
allows more air flow and is therefore cooler. I am
occasionally tempted to tear out all the liners in all
my hats. But then I remember how interesting all
the writing is on those liners and how some of them
are real silk and... well I leave 'em alone.

Pilgrim, that Glen Allan hat is just more proof that there
were more fine hat makers in the good old days than we'll
ever know. I guess good felt was easier to come by, too.
