I finally won something good

I just won this March 1938 jacket. single breasted, peak lapels and not that bad a price. I'm almost always outbid for stuff at the last moment. Everyone else that say it must have been in bed.

Great Price, great color, great vintage, what else could you ask for? That would look sweet with light grey wool slacks or dark kahkis. How formal is it?

The ribbon around the edges i've only ever seen on frock coats or morning coats, so yeah, i guess it was a sign of formality back in the day.

Very nice jacket indeed. Good price, too. I've seen things like that go way up. Depends who happens to be watching just at the moment it ends.

Gosh that looks like the exact same cut as a coat from 1909! That may be an older coat. I spoke to Art Fawcett about dates on tags and he said that quite often people would buy suits that had been sitting on a rack for years (smaller stores in rural areas wouldn't restock every year) I could be wrong. It could very well be from the late 30s, but gosh that looks so much earlier to me! Great find! Amazing find actually! Peaked lapel single breasted! That's a beautiful coat.
