I Just changed the indy bash on my black federation to the RBH/TVA/ diamond bash. Any suggestions? is it ok or plain horrid? The spots are water.

I think it looks alright. Any new bash takes a while to settle in, right?

Its a little tighter-pinched than RBH's original TVA, but it presents a nice front view and profile, and it looks very neat.

Good job, indycop.

I could'nt bring myself to give up the center dent and the tight pinch! BABY STEPS! I did have to raise the pinch though.

When I bashed some of the hats I used to own with a diamond bash, this is how I did it, slightly more elongated then the more cubic shape I'm seeing here.

I think it looks fantastic. It's a style with a lot of attitude. To me, the bash is kind of like something you'd see in the early 1900's - 1920's but with a 30's-40's tight pinch. Great job!

indycop, Way to go! We're getting back to the way it used to be. Men are beginning to create their "own" bashes and show them off. I applaud not only your effort, but your success! By the way, as soon as it is completely dry, your new shape will be "set." :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Actually when I saw the pics Deanglen put up I tried messing with it but when I went further back with the diamond it was making the sides cave in badly. Maybe the long oval had something to do with it I dunno. But anyway I went out on a limb and balled the thing up in my hands! After that it just popped right back out. I have started to like it like the way it is. When I look at it straight on it kind of flares out at the top. So i'm gonna leave it this way. I guess it will be the RBH inspired indycop hybrid bash!:D
Colby you can get a federation from hatsdirect in less than a week, which gives you something to play with while waiting for your Camptown!lol

My version of the diamond bash was actually just the teardrop crown bash with three points pinched into the rounded back of the bash , as you can tell from the top picture. I did it because of a hat I saw Gary Coooper wearing in "The Fountainhead" where he played an architect.

In one scene, he turned around and I caught a quick glimpse of the rear of his fedora and the crown was bashed that way. I ran and got my grey BCF hat and reproduced what I remembered of what I saw. I liked the angles it gave to the crown. But that's just me.

Get you a nice spray bottle, one that allows you to mist, go ahead and wet the crown, down a little, it will not hurt it. Don't stand in the shower with it on, but go ahead and get it wet/damp, then work your crease in the crown.

Make sure you get a good quart size spray bottle, I pick up some nice heavy duty ones at Home Depot in the garden area, they have a nice nozzle and that is what I use some times , when I don't have the steam I need, or get the tea kettle out and fill about half way full, set on the oven eye and wait a few min. and you will have some nice steam coming out the tea kettle nozzle, while waiting MIST the crown where you will be working at, and then give that crown a shot of that steam, make your crease and add more steam if you need to, and look at that nice new crease you just did.

Try a new bash and then "read" the Fountainhead...and then Atlas Shrugged...I heard they were working on a remake of the Fountainhead with Angelina Jolie...That crazy hollywood...:eusa_doh: lol :D
Hopefully they'll use some style in the movie...and we'll see some righteous fedora wear!
