This is one of my favorites...

Later in the month (1947), arriving in D.C. for the Senate hearings. Same hat I think.

Here is the coat and hat from the 'Hercules' flight - up close. (...and yes - they reversed the image in the publication!)

Actually,

Believe it or not, my hat is not an AF original, but rather an AB Deluxe. Marc made it for me using some vintage ribbon that he came across.

I've been wearing this hat, alternating with a brown Whippet and a grey Royal Deluxe Stetson. The AB Deluxe is phenominal- the felt is butter soft, the fit exceptional. Highly recommend.

However, I'm hoping to get a granite grey with contrasting dark ribbon- thinking that it may be right up Art's alley...

I love that look; a real classic! Too bad we can't dress that way today without being identified with Indiana Jones.

I have seen this photo before but I hadn't realized it was taken when he was arriving for those hearings. Now I can see the fire in his eyes. Judging from the film clip of those hearings, he really let those government guys have it with both barrels.

John, most likely back in the day, when someone had a leather jacket, brown fedora on they called him 'Howard Hughes' instead of Indy Jones! lol

In the '40's and '50's EVERYBODY wore a brown fedora and leather jacket!!!

I think the Hughes hat is just the ultimate fedora of all time!!!
