I don't own any leather right now. Like to have a classic A-2 or maybe something civilian from the mid 30's with the belted back style and zipper pockets.

I do own a nice WWII pea coat and I find my self wearing that more now that it's getting a little chilly over here!

An A2, and thats about all I ever wear. My wife bought me a modern styled black leather jacket...it just sits in the closet unless we're going to some serious function where my A2 with its patches etc. would be un-approriate.

Kee-rist, I just pulled out the winter wear two weeks ago and I have to have my head examined. I have something like 8 wool top coats, 4 or 5 rain coats. A couple of 40s 50s short wool coats plus my pij coat, and I JUST BOUGHT ANOTHER 50s RAINCOAT. ($20 - I couldn't pass it up.)

Regards,
Senator Jack

Hmm, I have:

Brown Leather Wested (Indy, of course)
Black Leather Mock-A2
Cotton Canvas Columbia
And about four different windbreakers of varying brands and quality

I'm in the market for a good blazer or pea coat though, just haven't found one I really liked.

Man, those Aeros must've set yo back a little...they aint cheep.

I've been buying and selling aero since about 1994 or so. Most are sale jackets. One trick I've learned is if they have a jacket on sale buy 3. Sell 2 and the 3rd is much cheeper for you.

I was actually going to rep for them here back in the day before Mark got the ball going.

Lots of jackets but only a few that fit general style here. They are:
Vintage light blue DB suit jacket (1947)
Vintage (?) navy blue DB suit jacket
Hugo Boss modern cut jacket, brown
no name clone of above in slate grey
black Derby jacket
Aero repro 1942 A-2 (still waiting for this to arrive)

What I would like to own:

Traditional style British tweed SB jacket
cream colored linen peak lapel jacket
black peak lapel SB with belted back
Casablanca style trench coat

At least one type each of a...
Cooper A2
Orvis hunting coat
Chaps leather motorcycle jacket
Carhartt Arctic duck back jacket
REI down coat.
When I start looking around my closets, I realize I have more than I know what to do with. It makes me feel alot more materialistic than I want to be. Time to do something about it.

(Deep breath),

Eastman steerhide 'House' A-2
Aero 42-15142-P smooth russet horse A-2
Aero buffalo Highwayman (black)
Aero seal brown B-3
L.W. Foster Sportswear G-1 7823 (AER)-50's
Irvin B. Foster Sportswear G-1 7823B (1963)
Southern Athletic Co. N-3B (1964)
Skyline Clothing Co. L-2B (1961)
Alpha Industries L-2B (1972)
Alpha Industries MA-1 (1965)
Greenbrier Industries CWU-45P (1977/8)
Aero cotton poplin B-10
Taberley Clothing Co. Tanker
Buzz Rickson B-15B (1945 pattern)
Alpha Industries B-15 Replica Series
Maenson wool overcoat, cloth by Crombie.

Plus Goodness knows how many other modern waterproofs, sports jackets, denims, motorbike jackets, suits, fleeces etc. etc. And I'm not done yet! Still short of an original A-2, an M-422A (and other WWII Navy jackets), an Irvin, various WWII shearlings, 30s/40s/50s US motorcycle/work jackets, some decent authentic/repro denim, you name it.. hopefully an Aero 'King of the Road' motorbike jacket next!
And this is nothing compared to some really serious jacket nuts I know of!

Hmmm... lets see...

  • Wested "Raiders" goatskin
  • Lambskin "motorcycle" jacket - stricly for looks, not functional in the least (keeps me warm tho')
  • Black wool, single-breasted overcoat
  • Wool Romanian Officers overcoat (pre 1989) - its a bit the worse for wear thanks to moths!
  • Moldovan camo field jacket
  • Me grandad's WWII Class A uniform jacket
  • 5 suits, 3 blazers
  • 2 or 3 M-65 field jackets (worn with the collar down - no Elvis here)
  • Ski jacket (I don't ski though)

I had a GoreTex military jacket that I picked up at the PX, but it was crap. I got rid of that in a heartbeat. It didn't keep me warm at all, it was uncomfortable and it looked naff. Give me the M-65 with the liner any day of the week.

Jeez... dems a lot of jackets.

If only I had the space... *sigh*

I would gladly do my part to keep the world's supply of leather jackets in motion by buying a few more, but I haven't the room!

You must have a biiiiiig closet!

Shamus, prepare to be sick with envy, they all fit me...I am a perfect 1940s Mr Average, 38 chest, 5ft8".

Most of them I wear.About half of the Flight jackets are part of my WW2 aviation collection and not for wear, but even they fit me. I have had a few jackets that were too big or too small that i kept as pure collectables but eventually they all got moved on (the only one I regret was a big size, perfect, mint, unworn, 1st issue Irvin...it wasn't a contract one either, had the Irvin factory label. The fur hadn't even begun to curl and the blacking was still on the zips..plus i had its full history and a book featuring the original owner. Sigh.)

Matei, space is a serious problem, especially as I also have a lot of other clothes and my wife is almost as bad as me. But somehow we manage. There is a sort of walk-in wardrobe in the attic roof space that is a great help.

Its nice to talk to people whose reaction isn't total disbelief followed by "what a narcissistic tosspot!"
