To be fair to the Guardian, they're a British paper, and they've surely got a lot more connection to (and interest in) New York.

That dude on the horse could sooo easily be Chicago though. Any town with an El, really. I'm particularly getting a Wells St Vibe on that photograph. I know it isn't and it's in New York, cause that's what the caption says, but you know what I mean.
