Hitchcock's earliest film found in NZ

After a world-wide search, a large part of The White Shadow (1923), thought to be the earliest surviving feature by Alfred Hitchcock, has been found in New Zealand - just in time for the filmmaker’s 112th birthday

Wow, what a great find! That was one of the big mysteries of lost film footage, along with the butchering of The Magnificent Ambersons and Greed. I wonder if they'll recover the remaining reels.

The National Film Preservation Foundation is screening Hitchcock's first film, the recently unearthed and now restored "The White Shadow" (1924). The first 3 reels are available to view online here
