Well, I know this football has been kicked around from time to time but I wanted to show a comparison with the difference between high waisted and low waisted.

Here is a photo of Bogart with Ann Sheridan.

And now a modern model with LOW waisted pants. Eewwwww.

Any comments?

Fab 5...I agree.

I can appreciate both looks. I will come out and admit right now that I am a fan of modern flat-front pants (collective gasp!). I appreciate both looks for what they are - vintage and modern, respectively. I may possibly wear high-waisted pants, but only with a suit, and if the rest of the outfit looks decidely vintage. If the rest of the ensemble looks modern, then the wearer just looks clueless.

In my opinion the low waisted pant makes a man look un-proportioned . Makes his torso look longer then it should be. The high waisted look is sharp with or with out a suit. I wear all my slacks and pants where they should be.

I like flat front pants too! They had them in the 30's and 40's. I have a few pairs and they look good high waisted too!

The last guy looks like a fruit basket.

I don't mind the modern pants (unless you're trying to pull off a vintage look). It's the poor guy's shirt that has to go. I love the egg beater comment!

Well, I much prefer the high waisted look myself. I agree wholeheartedly with Root in that low waisted pants, especially when worn with a tucked in shirt, make the wearer look very disproportionate. As a matter of fact, some years ago I worked with a guy who loved this look (and attempted a more extreme version of it)--and we all referred to him as 'Torso Man' behind his back. Not a good look, in my opinion!

I'm 6'4" and I wear them high! People always tell me that I look better with high waisted slacks or pants for that matter then low waisted any thing. I don't look like an ice cream cone, but I sure love eating them. Remember James Stewart? Yeah, he's the same height and mostly legs! Not an ice cream cone there!

The person I referred to was also very tall--I think 6'2 or 6'3. He was very thin, and when he wore a white polo shirt and black slacks, he looked like he had this abnormally long torso. It was a very bizarre look!

Indeed. The way men wore pants in the 30's to the 50's was on their natural waist. Not on the edge of their hips. I don't care for men or women wearing this low waisted look. Call me old fashioned but, that's who I am and the modern low waisted look started in the 60's and hasn't changed since then.

I like to see people wear pants where they fit correctly and not on the brink of falling off!

Ha! I do recall a couple of guys having wardrobe malfunctions while in high school  This only cemented my feelings towards the general look...Working in the tux business was always a challenge; it was always an amazing 'feat' when one of those young guys knew where his natural waist was without having someone explain the concept first!

Personally, I think low-waisted pants feel awful and look equally bad, and I can't imagine why guys would like them at all, either!

Well, I knew you'd agree with me ;)

Thanks for the complement Doll! It's funny, but I took these photos earlier today. I'm still wearing this outfit right now. I felt it was a nice day to dress up a little.
