Hi...very new to this

Hi I would like to know what to wear with my hats when dressing casual sorry I love all this stuff but I know nothing about it because no one dresses even talks about this time period around here so i would like to know how dress casual with my hats, so, why not ask the experts themselves huh?

I think a fedora goes with darn near everything.

A hat for every situation!

With a number of fedoras you can tie the hat to numerous situations for a variety of looks. A fedora is not always a dress up hat. It can be a dress down hat for the outdoors, and either work or play. A good Indy hat goes well with suits or the adventurer's look. A pinched front Open Road is a rugged outdoorsy look. Several Akubra are set up for those casual outdoorsmen. Have fun! Experiment!

Very cool hat Tony in Tarzana! What brand is it if you don't mind me asking? I just got my first Akubra this week, a black Federation, and I wore it Thursday with a suit and today with a blue jean shirt and dockers with a tweed jacket. I liked the result with both.

one thing i have taken..

away from this forum is that perhaps we in contemporary times have become a bit too casual and distant from ....let's call them ...the "sartorial arts".

wearing hats adds just a bit more formality, tradition and history to how one presents himself in public. i would be interested from others on this forum if they, too, have found that wearing hats leads to some improvement and discernment in some of the other things they wear.

Thanks Tony. I don't want to hijack the thread but if you don't mind me asking which Stetson did you trade for? I have read so much on here against the newer Stetsons, that I don't know what to think. I like the look of some of the newer ones such as the Ashland, Downs, and Temple.

First of all welcome! I am not much of a poster but I have learned tons of info here from all of the experts. To answer your question, I usually just go with khakis, some tasteful shoes or boots and a button down shirt (not necessarily dress). Like others have said though, experiment and do what works for you!

Wecome to the hobby. I wear hats with just about everything, from jeans to suits. I really like the way a thin ribbon goes with just about anything. You can dress up or down and the thin ribbon fits. I usally wear my wider ribbons when I am more dressed up, but this is just me.
No hard and fast rules. Try your hat with different looks to see which you like best.
