Hi
I am new to this site which I just happened to stumble upon. I like all of you love everything to do with the 40's and I love the 50's too, so I thought I would join this site.

I am based in the UK and design and make hats and clothing inspired by the 40's and 50's (sorry gentlemen!:( only for the ladies!).

Please find feel to take a look at my site and I am look forward to speaking to you all.

Hi Rosielee. My girlfriend wears quite a few hats so I'll definitely let her and her friends know about your site etc.
I haven't been going along to Spitalfields in past couple of years so much but Brick Lane really does have some good shops etc around the Cheshire Street area. (Labour and Wait is a big favorite apart from the vintage shops). Anyway, good luck, I'm sure you'll be inundated with customers.

Hi Rosilee, and welcome!

I think you'll like it here - a very friendly, supportive and helpful bunch of folks.

Great stuff on your website! They seem to be real creations inspired by the period, rather than simply re-creations of something that went before - not that I know enough to say, just my impression. I like that.

If I may be so bold as to offer a suggestion, you might want to re-do some of your photos when you get a chance so they do justice to your work. The hats in particular seem to fade into the dark background. People will get more excited about the clothing if they can see them better.

I'd suggest avoiding on-camera flash altogether (except on low level as fill for natural light shots), get a couple of photofloods or even clamp-on utility lights, pay attention to background colors and contrast with your subject and the clothes, and just play around with it - very easy now with digital where you can see results as you go.

Really great, inspired stuff Rosilee!

- Bill

Hi Cookie Sorry did I say something wrong? [huh] as you have pointed out what I have said in my introduction???

I am aware that the site has alot of gentlemen on it, is that the reason why? I would sincerely not like to upset anybody by this comment.

Joke Joyce - all the hatwearers are blokes around here forever finding a more perfect hatmaker - no injury intended. I hope you make the Loungerettes some great hats...

Not just hats--many of us guys would love to have another source of vintage-style clothing, too.
