I'm not sure how old it is, but it doesn't fit like a modern suit! The jacket and pants are kind of a checked brown wool with a red stripe running thru. High arm holes!:eusa_clap Boy does that feel GREAT! Has the old Union label and the brand is "Clipper craft" tailored for Peterson Harned Von Maur , Davenport, Iowa. (Right here in town)
The pants have a metal Talon zipper, and suspender buttons. The back suspender bottons are missing as the waist has been taken in. They also have drop style belt loops. Also a nearly hidden watch pocket.

Needless to say, I'm fairly excited about this!lol The side shot displays the suit's acuall colr the closest. Please excuse the lowness of the pants, I didn't have a belt handy, and I ain't got enough butt to over ride my gut and keep my pants up.....They have a 32" inseam which is what I normally wear.

Loooking at the pants I think they may have been a "V" back before they were altered.

At left is the style or manufacturing number. At right is the suit's size: 44 R.

By the way, Clipper Craft was a very good brand.

.
Well, that makes sense as I wear a 44R.;)

Excellent suit. I love the material. It's not difficult sewing in some buttons for the braces. It's more difficult finding the buttons than sewing them in.

It's a great find and you wear it well.

That is a swell suit, and more elegant than most early 50s browns.

I remember a PHVM in Des Moines (in one of the malls), but it didn't catch on. I think it became just Von Maur, then another chain.

I bought an eBay lot of ties from Portland and one was labeled Younkers. I'm still getting used to the idea of Younkers becoming Macy*s. "The world's largest store." Bleh.
