Help with easily see through white button down shirts...what to wear under?

We used to call singlets 'white garbo's' or 'blue garbo's', because that what the garbo's (trashmen) wore.

I never would have guessed that garbo's referred to trashmen.

They seem to be called all sorts of names but I have always referred to them as athletic undershirts or A-shirts. Some people call them sleeveless T's but I never got that since there is no T shape.
