Ok, I have a last minute wedding to go to. I really don't have any dresses. Well, I didn't until now. I bought a dress on ebay last night.

I love the dress. It's pretty 50's, and I'm actually trying to go for more of a 40's look, so I think if I leave out the crinoline I might be able to pull that off.

Secondly, shoes. I'm thinking about these shoes.

Do you think red looks bad with the dress. I'm pretty sure it will look good. I also have a red bandana with white polka dots to go with it.

Do you have a red belt?

I don't have a red belt, but I was actually planning on getting one. Once my shoes arrive, I'm going to hit up the thrift stores to see if I can find a similar color.

That dress is quintessential 50s, its cut too full to mimic a 40 dress. I LOVE it tho, and would want 30 :D

The shooz are super cute as well, but if you are gonna go that bold with the footwear, make sure you have a hat/ purse, and or belt that will accent the shooz. Id glam that up with a red wide brim hat, and some long white cloves :)

Good luck and take a pick of the end outfit!

Hehehe...it does look good with the crinoline. The auction didn't include the crinoline so that further cements my reasons for not wearing one. I'm on a budget. I am so impatient. I cannot wait to get this dress! It should be here by Friday! Yay!!

If you don't have any luck there, try Burlington Coat Factory. (Do you have one where you live)
If not, stores like Ross, TJMaxx, and Marshalls are always known for having some funky stuff.

Good Luck!
...and make sure you take a pic of the whole outfit all together.

I don't really like the shoes with the dress, and I think that if paired with a matching bandana, it will look too casual. I think of bandanas in the hair as being for a day at the beach, not a wedding. For a dressier look, I would choose white or black accessories to go with the dress.

I think that I saw a belt that would match those at Target or Wet Seal. So if you have a moment you might want to check it out. Walmart has wide red belts that are only $4 so you can't beat that!

I do like the shoes with the dress, but I agree that a bandana would be too casual. Perhaps, as someone mentioned earlier, a wide-brimmed red hat?

Well, white was actually the first thing I thought I was going to do. While I was out today, I did end up buying white shoes. The only red I'm going to be wearing is nail polish I think. I've got a white necklace that will coordinate with everything, too. Here are the shoes I got....

I think you're right about the dress being quintessentially 50's. I do love it, too. You're probably right about the fullness as well. I can't wait to try it on. I decided to go with white shoes, mostly because I couldn't find a shoe similar to the red ones. I don't want to buy shoes on the internet. I can't try them on. Those red ones have a 4 1/2" heel. Fortunately, I ended up going to a few shops and I have now realized I cannot walk in a heel that high. The shoes I chose are much easier to walk in, and MUCH more comfortable.

The dress is great and the white shoes are perfect. To extend the wear of the dress, try wearing brown shoes/belt/bag. You can take the dress into the fall with the brown access. I like the necklace pictured with the dress too. Very 50's and oh so cute.

I agree, the white suits the dress a lot better. I love the idea of wearing the dress throughout the seasons. I have a similar one thats more of an aqua shade that I even wear in the winter! (I'm in Texas so its never that cold). I bet this one would look sweet with a grey or white 50s beaded cardigan, maybe a printed scarf in the same shade and some stockings.
