Hello, I’m Todd W in KC new to the forum and need help identifying a preowned hat I purchased. It was labeled as a Stetson Temple but the identifying tag seems backwards and all of the Temples I’ve seen don’t have bound edges and age would help also.It meausures brim 2 3/8 on the sides and 2 1/2 front and back with 4 1/2 crown. I’ll post pics to help, and I’m a 7 1/8 if you have something interesting ! Thanks in advance, also want to ask if anyone from here bought the old Silverbelly Strat off EBay marked Ness City, Kansas ? Appreciate any help and thanks for the info, a great resource. Regards, T Ward

The Temple is a raw edge hat and this hat has a bound brim. I suspect it was a model exclusive to Hats in the Belfry.

Hats in the Belfry! Wondered what that worn word was, thanks Deadly. I’ve seen the Temple tags that read TFTMPL but this one reading TFPLMT baffled me, thought maybe a rough Monday for the tagmaker ! Also have a beautiful Dobbs identified as a Holyoke which I purchased at the Stetson outlet in St Joesph last year that I’ve never seen or heard of that model either. There doesn’t seem to be much with record keeping or as I’ve been reading, ratings and classifying furs percentages. It might be a custom but seems weird it would have a whole identifying tag like that.

Welcome to the Lounge! Hopefully we can contribute to you hat knowledge and collection :) Vintage hats in particular.

7 1/8 is a size where you can get some great hats at decent prices. Pop around eBay and the various Stetson posts here and maybe the idea will take root.

I for one started out with two hats....Here is one thread that got me started:
