Just found a fantastic grey leather German trench coat. It appears to be military or police issue. I’d guess 1950s to 1970s? Very nice gray leather. Soft and clean with little wear.
I’m having trouble finding the manufacturer & hoping someone can ID the label.
Still trying to ID this coat. Any ideas? It is very, very nice leather. butter soft. Any ideas? It is very, very nice leather. butter soft. Not sure if I'm keeping or selling. Think I may hold on to it for this year & let it go next year. Fits perfect.
Thanks Will. I don't speak, nor read, German. Wouldn't know where to begin with. Not being familiar with the language, I couldn't make out the text on that tag.
Running your text through Uncle Google did the trick.
"January 1970 are the companies VEB "Nikator" leather and sports clothing Freiberg, VEB".
Seb, I don't know whether this is a civilian or military or police coat, but it looks like one of the latter two, which is also why I posed this question here.
The brand appears to be "Nikator" which, according to Uncle Google, could be either military or civilian. Either way, it's a very nice coat and I'm happy to have it.
