Help! I just bought a hat...

Hi there. I live in Australia, and just bought a Borsalino Como from Bencraft Hats. They only charged me $10 for freight which cannot be right. I have e-mailed them to ask about additional charges and that was about a week ago & I still haven't heard Nor have I heard anything about my hat. What should I do? Is it coming? I was so looking forward to it!! Thanks for any information you can give me!!

i dont know if you have a skype line, if so buy some outgoing credit and give them a call real cheap.

otherwise suck up the cost and call bencraft...they answered right away when i called.

Relax mate, it's only been a week. Most things I buy from the States take the better part of 2 weeks to arrive in Oz - and some have taken up to 6 weeks! But if in doubt - give them a call. They're a reputable company and I'm sure they'll be helpful.

I have bought at least five hats from Bencraft. They are good folks and post here on the lounge. They will do you right. By the way the como is a good looking hat. I have one.

Yeah, a week is still within the normal expected time. The fastest that I've ever received a hat from Australia was about 10 days. And I agree: The Como is a good-looking hat. Nice choice.

Hi Jaimiin ,are you sure you emailed us? i didnt see it. The shipping charge to Australia is usualy around 45.00 for postage. This is by the US postal service Express mail. Its the only way to do it properly otherwise it never gets there. UPS and FEDEX are out of the question. It would cost more than the hat!

Firstly, when you say "charged" you mean the web based check-out, right? I`d check with the credit card company how much they actually charged you. I think the site is made only for domestic orders, and the $10 gets quoted automatically. I had the same thing, and if I recall got a mail (automatic?) saying that for international orders I would be contacted. They did not contact me and I called - the person who took the line was very surprised that I called from Japan, and was most apologetic, and mentioned I would be charged $40 I think it was. Goods arrived within a week. Sunsequent orders have been very smooth, and they are a first class outfit.

One gripe though was the Tesi linen straw - ordered a "Large" and got landed with a 58cm. Guess that is an approximation, but after ordering a 59cm previously, I did expect a generic Large, and not a 58...you can imagine the 58 did not fit and needed a lot of damaging stretching. Could have returned it, but at $40 both ways (whoever pays) its almost the cost of the hat. And you know the feeling..."I like it and it may fit if I strectch it..."

Interesting comments about mails. I`ve got a few unanswered too Steve...all of which were potential business. No gripes there, but its not me who lost out. I mean this constructively.

Wow... thanks for your quick responses everyone!! And for all your welcomes! You guys are awesome! You are all right, I am probably over-reacting since it has only been a week. It's just that it automatically put the postage as $10 which I knew would be incorrect & I was worried they wont post it until I work out the cost! Which is probably right ;P But thanks muchly! I went on a bit of a hat shopping spree last week. Well window shopping online for now Need to make sure I got my hat size right before I get more. Love the wide variety of hats at bencrafthats.com tho! Looking forward to getting a couple more, for different things.

daizawaguy: Hey great idea! I actually checked my credit card statement online, and they did charge me the correct amount for international freight!! So it's all good... guess I can look forward to my hat arriving then Ya I know what you mean about trying to make it fit. I hope mine does.

Steven: Thanks for getting back to me here. I e-mailed sales@bencrafthats.com a couple of times. Perhaps it goes into some spam folder or something? The address can't be wrong because I basically replied the mail that confirmed my order. Anyway, I should have checked my credit card statement before going on to here. Looks like it was all charged correctly & I can look forward to receiving it!
