I've spent a lot of time pouring over the archives, but I'm still a bit stumped on this suit. It's the first suit I've bought in a long time, and though it's not my ideal suit, it's not bad and is a start. The trousers are too tight in the waist, but I'd rather loose the weight to fit the suit than alter the suit. They're also a bit long, but that I can easily correct, though I'm not sure if I should do it now, or wait until I've lost the two inches from my waist? Don't know how that'll affect it.
At any rate, here's the suit. No pictures of me wearing it yet. The pictures I took made everything a little lighter and shinyer than it really is, I did my best.
Material is a medium weight wool, with darker double pinstripes. I'd say it's good quality, sturdy and hangs well.
The jacket is three button SB, notch lapel, no vents. Waisted a little, not a great deal. Two flap pockets, two interior pockets, breast pocket. Three buttons on the sleeves, with no false buttonhole stitching. There's no buttonhole on the lapel, just a thick string (second picture). I'm not sure of the lining material, except it's not poly. The jacket is fully lined.
Trousers are double pleated, have a high waist, 7" zipper with two hooks on an extended tab at the top. No buttons for braces, just belt loops. Diagonal pockets with one rear pocket closed with button and loop. There's a fob pocket hidden in the waistband on the right. The front of the legs are lined in the same material as the jacket most of the way down. Cuffs are 1 3/4" with a heel guard all the way around. 18 1/2" in diameter.
The lack of a lapel buttonhole seems a little odd to me, but on the whole this suit was well put together. There were at least two tags on the inside, but both have been removed.
Any thoughts as to the date?
Regards,
Nick
