Hello, everyone,
I found this site while looking for a new hat. I have been lurking for a month or so and have gained a wealth on insight and knowledge. I am currently waiting on a Stetson Chatham to be delivered from Aaron's Hats. I am seriously considering working with Art Fawcett on a custom hat but I need to determine the direction I want to go with it first. I have been bidding on ebay, but haven't been sniping high enough.

What led me to a classic hat site? First and foremost is the total lack of style displayed by the masses and their baseball caps. I truly hope classic hat styles make a comeback. When I see someone freezing in the bitter cold with a trench coat and no hat, well....... it just amazes me. That and the fact that about a year ago I was looking through some very old family photo albums and saw the distinguished style that my grandfather exhibited with his long wool coats and fedora hats.

A little about myself, I am 49, live in Charleston, SC, spend my time juggling work, love for the arts and theatre, coin collecting , Cowboy Action Shooting, fishing, boating and riding my Harley.

I am looking forward to learning a lot more about the style of the Golden Era, when men were gentlemen and women were........well I don't know, I have never understood women in all of my 49 years. But I like 'em and will probably spend another 49 years trying to figure them out.;)

Cool another Harley rider = 2 this week! What kind of bike? I'll be 49 in March & ride a 2000 Road King Classic. I've toyed with idea of Cowboy Mounted Shooting but have yet to convince my horse! Welcome to another addiction!

Thanks for the welcome. My Harley is a 2007 Streetglide. It has a custom paint job with muted dayglo ghost flames flames that only show in the sunlight. At night the bike looks black, During the day it looks like it riding through fire. Cowboy action shooting is a blast!

Welcome, Topdog. My wife and I love your hometown. Some of the best food in the country, especially the she crab soup just about anywhere in town and the low country omelet and the hominy grits at The Hominy Grille. Nothing like the Battery on a spring night.

Topdog,
Welcome to the Lounge! As you've said, yo get a chance to learn a lot in here. While I mostly come for the knowledge of hats, there is so much more here on classic style that the experts are willing to impart. Way to jump in, starting off with a Stetson Chatham and then considering an Art Fawcett custom for your next hat. I'm also a Cowboy Action Shooter and ride a 97 Harley Sportster (plus an 86 Sportster, 96 Kawasaki Vulcan 800 and a 79 Yamaha XS650 along with a 74 Honda 750 thats waiting patiently for me to put it back together). So I guess great minds think alike! :) :p :)
