WOWSER! I just looked though your photos of vintage clothing. What a great wardrobe! We are built a lot alike, wish we could share closets! You could try on my Gone With the Wind garb, : )

I know what you mean about the black dresses looking the same. I have a handful of them. Also, I don't wear them often because I feel like I'm going to a funeral. I suppose if I put a huge flower in my hair that would change the look, eh?

Tell me more about the gown you got for 1 cent! Gotta love those ebay deals!!

And what about the Titanic staircase pic? Where was it? We went in St. Louis again this year, but they have a new Titanic museum in Branson, MO that I can't wait to see. Here's some pics from my trip if you're interested,

Anyhoo, nice to meet you. It's so fun to find a place with people who care about these clothes too. I'll have to do a fashion show shoot soon. This makes me feel like I'm not crazy and finally have someone to share the excitement with!

Ok, sorry, but WOW! You made all those recreations???!!! You blow me away. Perfect! Just wanted to say that. I'm really into Victorian stuff too- mine are on my link of my signature.

And ditto, lovely dresses, Daisy!

Thank you so much Nikki! I didn't think anyone ever clicked over to that site! I haven't updated it in a while. I almost forgot about some of those dresses.
It is great to have someone to share them with.
Your pictures are incredible. I just love Edwardian, and have been trying to collect some dresses and suits from that era, but everything runs so small. I'm hoping that someday I will start sewing lessons so I can make my own. I just keep putting it off. You really have an amazing collection of all different eras. I wanted to look at them all, but of course my computer router is acting all whacky, and I only have one little bar of signal. So, I'm gonna definitely peruse the rest of your albums tomorrow. Your titanic era is incredible. That is my favorite era. The 1910 Moire and beaded gown is stunning. Let me know if you ever decide you don't want it anymore :D (kidding of course, I can't imagine anyone ever getting tired of that!) The Titanic Tea Dress came out perfect! I have done so many searches on line, trying to find a replica, or the real thing from J. Peterman, but could never find one. I found a pattern on line, but there's that little problem with me not knowing how to sew! You certainly do have an incredible collection. Thanks for sharing it with me.:)
I think the staircase picture was taken on a cruise last December. Of course I can't see it right now (darn internet), so I'll check it tomorrow.
Thank you again for the compliments, it was very sweet of you. I look forward to reading more posts and seeing lots more pictures of your incredible wardrobe.
Cheers,
Daisy

Hello Lauren and thank you!
Bah! No.. I don't make them all. The Titanic flying dress I had made as a gift for myself for losing my baby weight. I *think* my seamstress' site is http://ckhall.com/home.htm
I'll look it up later if that doesn't work!
Most of the other gowns I "make" out of pre-existing gowns. However, I do want to make the BBQ gown from GWTW, the fabric alone was $600. I'm afraid to TOUCH it, lol! I have a partially made one but the entire bodice had to be redone. Thus the need for the new machine with a button holer because there are over 1500 buttonholes in the ruffles of that neckline.

Yes, I saw your site. LOVE your victorian gown.. (jaw dropped, eyes bugging!!) I wanted to email you about putting my gwtw garments group on your site if you like. We talk all about the costumes from the film, Walter Plunkett, and hollywood costume.

Thank you for your wonderful comments too Daisy! Ah... yes.. the titanic era.. yum.
This group has tons of info if/when you decide to leap into that direction,
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/titanicdresses/?yguid=176526472
or I'd be glad to help you along as well. I researched till my eyes burned for that flying dress. We ended up using the Simplicity 8640 with some alterations and used an acutual hobble skirt pattern from the era.

Oh my.. the tea dress..haha.. I actually ended up hot gluing some of the lace on! I wanted to wear it to the exhibit a few years ago and was up till 4 am getting it finished. Have you seen Tracie Arnold's work? She does a tea gown.. but finding the right lace and such is the hard part!

LOVE the beaded gowns on this page, whoa!

I couldn't wear these titanic gowns without the edwardian corsets. Have you ever had one on? I can cinch down to 25 from 29 now but need to get to 22 to wear that moire gown.. sigh........ I'll just keep up with my Weight Watchers!

Sorry, I'm babbling. DH is away tonight so I get the pc all to myself and I don't know how to act!
