The WW2 AAF 460th Bombardment Group had several variations of their Group patch of which I have some great images of , But it seems they Never had any "Squadron" emblems I've been able to find , which leads me to my question, below are two images of their "Group" emblem, Note that each of them has a small tab with a Number on them , one "0" the other "3", now the Squadrons were 760th,761st,762nd and 763rd , could it have been possible that these two images were indicators of the last number for "each Squadron" ?????????????

If you can shed any light on this one please post, Much thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just added another image that follows on to what I've already posted in the above note, this new image has the # 2 in a tab at bottom , and they appear to be in a "clockwise " pattern, "0" top,"2" bottom(new image),"3' left, so if I can find one witht he "#1 which should be on right side , then it would "lock it up" as far as I'm concerned as to being right about the Squadron's being signified this way ...................................

460th Bomb Group "Squadron" emblems ........

Problem solved as far as I'm concerned , I received a Number 1 version image and this completes the set and in clockwise pattern as I suspected , 0-1-2-3 for the last number of each Squadron, 760th,761st.762nd and 763rd respectfully , below is Number 1

Very interesting…!

And a very cool jacket! Really nice! Interesting too that it has a satin/rayon lining … do you think that it could it be an ANJ-3 but with an A2 flap on the front?

Ah, a great pity it's not yours! I saw it has what appears to be a Scovill zip too - normally seen on USN jackets … that and the lining made me think of an ANJ-3.

Very interesting about the numbered tabs on the patches - very unique indeed!
And yes, the whole thing just works so well with the leather patches and mission tallies and name (Flak H … what, I wonder? Flak Happy?). It's always a nice treat to see a great original like that; one that looks so good and right. Thanks!

If your questions hasn't been answered, I've done some reading on the AN-J-3 lately and as I understand it, there were some variations - some had the A-2 windflap and others were USN styled - also some had epaulettes like the A-2 and some did not.

Very interesting…!

And a very cool jacket! Really nice! Interesting too that it has a satin/rayon lining … do you think that it could it be an ANJ-3 but with an A2 flap on the front?
