Have you slept in new leather jackets to break in?

I did do this in the context that I was on my own sleeping on living room floor - but like camping indoor!

Well guess the consensus is don’t sleep in your jacket ;)

But then if you’ve never tried it you may now be tempted - it did few rather good when I was laying on my back - especially with the cold, fever and shiver - I actually felt quite secure and safe lol

Probably watched too much mad max sleeping in jacket ready for action.

You may want to give it a try next time when missus is not around!

Lol. No, I’ve never worn a leather jacket to bed.

My Schott 141, was pretty “boxy” when I first got it. I wore it pretty much every day for about 7 months, and it’s broken in very nicely.

For my motorcycle riding leather jackets, it’s the tried and true, get caught in the rain and keep riding until either, I arrive at my destination, or it dries in the wind. I generally give the jacket a conditioning once it’s dry. The jackets always fit better and more comfortably afterwards.

the thing with leather jacket if you wear it un zipped to sleep, you might accidentally end up with unnatural back crease like diagonal crease across your back, when I did I zip up the jacket and it was not a great sleep. I sometime use the jacket as a blanket or hold it like a roll

Nooo.... unless I'd be seriously sloshed.
Especially with a new jacket I wouldn't be able to catch a single second of sleep.
Also, I'm an adult.
New jackets I wear on the couch watching TV, tho. Also boots and climbing shoes. This does help with the break in quite a bit. Well, just a bit, really.

Never slept in my jacket but my advise is to wear it normally in all contexts without thinking too much about it. Like when are driving, when it is raining, when you are sitting on top of it in a bar because there is no space to leave it, when you use it as a pillow on a flight or train etc.

I don’t personally do anything artificial to break it in other than maybe choose to wear it on purpose when it is raining.

I just thought about a new way of breaking in a new jacket - in a totally natural, authentic, original way - jump into shallow water (lake preferred otherwise a shallow pool and preferably when no one else is watching), swim a bit, get out then enjoy the sun with jacket on if it’s summer, or light a camp fire if winter. Wait for the jacket to dry!

May have a hard time explaining to people around why you’re attempting suicide by jumping in water with clothes on. Be prepared for Good Samaritans trying to sabotage this by saving you too quickly before jacket had a chance of absorbing maximum amount of water.

Please do not try this ;)
