Have white slacks; Found shoes; Need opinion

This weekend I was out with a friend and we stopped in at the Brooks Brothers Factory Outlet Store. I saw a pair of nice pleated white pants with cuffs, 100% cotton. I tried them on and they looked too good, so I wound up going home with them.

My current dilemna is what to wear on my feet. Someone had posted a pair of white wingtips a few weeks ago that looked great. Guessing that spectators would look good too.

So, I'm looking for recommendations as to what types of shoes would look good and be appropriate, and of course recommendations for sources.

Hey Buddy,

I don't know about Washington state, but the rule always was "after Memorial Day and before Labor Day" for both white slacks and white shoes. I'm in the northeast so maybe things are different in WA. You might go into ebay for the shoes, I still have a few pair on the closet shelf.

The look is real nice in a resort sort of way and above the "riff raff".

I purchased a similar pair of pants from Joseph Bank and went with a pair of White Nubuck Oxfords. If you're lucky and take an unpopular size, they're a steal at ShoeMall right now...

Bart, I'm originally from New England and bought these in preparation for the summer. I knew the rule was always never after Labor Day, but we always seemed to see them following Easter.

Can I start wearing these after Easter, or do I need to wait for Memorial Day?

Maybe a reddish brown leather color, nice and shiny... with a tan or light brown shirt.... linen maybe. I personally think the whole after labor day thing is silly, if you like it and want to wear it, do it. In that case.. I think the white pants would look good with those same shoes and a nice v-neck over a collared shirt, not a white one though.

The rule here in the South is Easter to Memorial Day, but it could be regional.

I'm from the South (NC, parents from SC). I think the white I've seen on Easter is mostly trim, there is just a lot more lace and trim on Easter compared to any other Sunday. I think the dresses on Easter are still a very light color. As far as men go I don't see white until Memorial Day, heck I don't see much white at all. Hearing from someone from MS or LA would be great. I have always lived in rural areas so the men don't dress up much.

Well, I just bought these shoes. My hope was to wear them with my white pants, but if they don't go, I can always wear them with other things.

Waaaait, you're telling me you DON'T wear white PAST Memorial Day?

Is that why I always see guys on TV wearing dark suits in Florida in July?

Or do you mean Labor Day, and the Floridians are just lawyers and politicians who can't ever wear light colors anyway?
