Hats made in Canada?

I have two fedoras from my grandfather. Both are too small for me but I keep them still. The first is a Mallory made by Stetson in 1967 (There is a Canadian Centenial stamp on the sweat band). The second is an Open Road also from the sixties. Both hats were made in Canada.

I am curious if these hats are the same quality as Stetsons made in the U.S. or possibly contracted out to a company such as Biltmore which I believe is Canadian? Since reading posts on the fedora lounge I have a better knowledge of felt quality but still lack in 'hands on' feel of quality. I am trying to figure out what good felt feels like as a point of reference. From past posts it seems that Open Roads from the sixties were not as good as earlier but still ahad decent felt quality. Is this an accurate assessment?

Any info and guidance appreciated.
